Muse to Release New Album in 2012

Interviewed prior to yesterday’s Ivor Nevello awards, Dominic Howard and Chris Wolstenholme spoke about the follow up to 2009 album, The Resistance.

Though Muse have not released an album for two years the band are at the top of their game and are sort after by many festival organisers. This year they are due to headline festivals in Reading and Leeds in the U.K, despite the lack of a new record.

Yesterday, the band won an Ivor Nevello award for Best International Achievement Award, to add to their long list of trophies they have picked up over the last ten years. The band has been song writing on the road but so far have not recorded anything new. "Matt [Bellamy, front - man] showed me a few chords recently. Who knows, it might be softer rock, but then it's up to me and Chris to make it heavy again. A heavy rock lullaby! But I'm sure it will move forward in some way."

The bands success and in demand status for headlining festivals and gigs have in all probability delayed the release of a follow up record to their 2009 smash. They plan to record songs this year however. Wolstenholme explained

"We've got Reading Festival plus in August and maybe a few weeks off after that. So September, October time well get into the studio and start writing and working on the songs."

The band also stated that they do not just write a song and record it if it is poor quality. Howard said: "It takes as long as it takes really, because you have to love it before you can just chuck it out there and into the real world. But definitely next year."
